In an individual is searching for a Senator by state, he/she can utilize tools provided by the U.S. Senate online. 
Senate Democrats
The Senate Democrats are responsible for upholding the values of the Democratic Party and representing the interests of their Party while voting on issues and legislation specified on the Senators Schedule. The Democratic Party is currently the majority party within the United States Senate, though this can change during a Senate election.

Republican Senators
The Democratic US Senators currently outnumber the Republican Senators, giving the Democratic Party control over the Senate. Nevertheless, the Republican Senators work hard to ensure that the interests and concerns of the Republican Party are represented in the Senate. Republican Senators have controlled the Senate for many periods throughout history. 


North Carolina Senators

Patrick Leahy
In terms of seniority, Patrick Leahy maintains the second highest rank in the United States Senate. Senator Leahy has represented the state of Vermont in the U.S. Senate for an extensive period of time and is an extremely influential figure within a number of different Senate Committees and subcommittees. 

Jim Webb
Jim Webb is the Democratic Senator that represents the state of Virginia. Senator Jim Webb has experience serving in the United States military and on Presidential Cabinets. He serves on a number of different Senate Committees and acts as chairman of a variety of Subcommittees. Senator Webb is also an accomplished author. 


Harry Reid
Harry Reid has been elected to represent the state of Nevada in the United States Senate repeatedly. Senator Harry Reid has extensive experience maintaining important positions within the Senate. Currently the Majority Leader in the Senate, Senator Reid has also served in a number of other notable positions, including as the Democratic Whip. 

George Voinovich
George Voinovich was selected to represent the state of Ohio in the U.S. Senate on multiple occasions. He played a primary role in combating the foreclosure pandemic and addressing the credit crisis that damaged the economy of the United States. Senator Voinovich has had a long career serving Ohio, both in the Senate and in other government offices, and plans to retire in 2011. 

Robert Byrd
Robert Byrd represented West Virginia in the United States Senate. He was repeatedly reelected to serve as a state Senator for this state. Senator Robert Byrd died in 2010, ending his extensive period of service in the Senate. Senator Byrd is recognized as the longest serving member of Congress in the history of the United States, and one of the most influential figures to serve on the Senate. 

Chuck Grassley
Chuck Grassley was elected to represent that state of Iowa in the U.S. Senate. Senator Grassley serves on a number of different Senate Committees and has acted as the chairman of the Finance Committee. He has been an important advocate of renewable energy and has taken the steps necessary to create alternative energy sources, including wind energy.  


Orrin Hatch

Orrin Hatch was elected to serve as the Utah state Senator and represent Utah in the United Sates Senate. Senator Hatch is a respected figure who is involved in a variety of Senate Committees and Subcommittees. He is well known for working closely with Democratic Senators to make necessary changes and pass legislation. 


Mary Landrieu

Mary Landrieu was elected to represent the state of Louisiana in the United States Senate. Senator Mary Landrieu is a Democratic Senator, however, she is known to be very conservative. She is a member of many Committees and Subcommittees, and acts as the chairwoman of a number of these committees. 

John McCain
John McCain was elected to be the Arizona representative in the U.S. Senate. He gained national popularity during the 2008 presidential elections, when he ran against Barack Obama, the Democratic Candidate. Senator John McCain is also widely known for his history in the military. Despite the disappointing loss in the 2008 presidential election, Senator McCain continues to be an important figure in the Senate.
