Illinois Unemployment BenefitsUnemployment benefits in Illinois are handled by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Illinois unemployment benefits can be applied for online through the website of the Illinois Department of Employment Security, which is usually referred to as the IDES. 

In order to apply for unemployment benefits in Illinois, the Illinois Department of Employment Security requires an applicant to supply their Social Security Number, as well as his or her name as it appears on the Social Security card. 

If the person applying for Illinois unemployment benefits is claiming a child or spouse as a dependent, obtaining unemployment benefits in Illinois will require the person to supply the Social Security Number, dates of birth, and names of all of these dependents. 

Submitting a claim for unemployment benefits in Illinois will also require the applicant to submit their employer’s name, employer’s mailing address, dates during which they were employed, and the reason for separation. This information must be supplied for all recent employers the person has worked with between April 1, 2009 and the day the claim is filed.
