The New Jersey Board of Elections handles various issues that pertain to voting. The New Jersey Board of Elections is most commonly referred to as the New Jersey Division of Elections, but the purpose of the Division is the same as the Board of Elections in many other states.
The New Jersey Board of Elections lists many important details on their website. For example, New Jersey has very strict requirements for voter identification. Those that do not have the proper identification, can only vote on a provisional basis, until proper identification is supplied.
In New Jersey, many people have received proper identifying numbers, such as the last four digits of their social security number, which can allow them to vote. However, the New Jersey Board of Elections allows individuals to vote in a NJ election if they do not have that number but they do have specific forms of identification. Allowable forms of identification include a drivers license, student Identification or a military identification, as well as many others. This process is in place so that the identity of the voter for a NJ election,can be verified.
In addition to administrative issues that pertain to voting. The New Jersey Board of Elections assist candidates in learning how to run for office. They have lists of rules and regulations, including those which govern campaign finance in the state.
